Team Green Britain Bike Week is fast approaching, and this year there are plenty of ways for everyone to get involved.
 
Whether you are a keen cyclist or just a beginner, and whether you do it for fun or as means of getting from A to B, come and join in the celebration of all things cycling, from Saturday 19 – Sunday 27 June.
 
Kicking off the week on Sunday 20 is a guided ride to Morecambe’s Catch the Wind Kite Festival – a nice easy ride suitable for all the family. Meet at Lancaster’s Millennium Bridge at 11.45am.
 
 
National Bike to Work Day – Wednesday 23 June
For those who cycle to work don’t miss National Bike to Work Day on Wednesday 23 June. Ride over the Lancaster’s Millennium Bridge between 7 and 9am and treat yourself to a free breakfast donated by Sainsbury’s and a free bike check.Bike to Work Days have also been organised for the RLI, North Lancs PCT, Lancaster University, Heysham Power Station and Lancaster City Council.
 
 
Commuter Challenge – 21 June – 4 July
Take part in this year’s Commuter Challenge by cycling to work at least once between 21 June and 4 July and you could be in with a chance of winning a fantastic prize for your efforts including £300 cycle vouchers to be used at a local bike shop, cinema tickets, massages, a meal for two and even cake!

Prizes have been kindly donated by The Dukes, Joined-Up Therapies, The Borough and the Yummy Cupcake Company.

So if your bike has been gathering dust whilst you sit in traffic jams every day, now’s the time to change all that and see how easy and fun it can be to get to work!
 
A number of rides will take place during Bike Week, including an evening ride to Condor Green for a relaxing drink, and a more challenging Sunday in Bowland guided ride. There will also be a Roadshow in Market Square on the Friday, and a free bike maintenance class for women on Saturday 26 June.
