News : Families urged to get on their bikes for cancer charity
There are still places available to join a fun, family-friendly bike ride on Saturday, 19 June and raise money for a unique cancer charity, Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Lancaster City Council is holding the 6.5km bike ride along the stunning River Lune Millennium Path from Lancaster to the Crook O’ Lune.
The ride starts at 11am at Green Ayre and representatives from Marie Curie Cancer Care will be there both at the start and at the end to help families celebrate completing the ride.
The ride takes around one hour, and toilets and refreshments are available at the Crook O' Lune picnic site.
Zoe Casson, Community Fundraising Manager for Cumbria, North Lancashire and Isle of Man said: “It is absolutely brilliant that the council has teamed up with us to hold this fantastic fundraising event. The bike ride will be a great family day out, and will help us raise vital funds for local cancer patients.”
The ride is free for children and £5 for adults to register. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Families who register will be given a fundraising pack to help them raise sponsor monies.
All money raised will be spent by the charity on providing free nursing care for terminally ill cancer patients in our area who have chosen to spend their final days in the comfort of their own home instead of hospital.
