Getting to Moor Lane Mills by bike

Moor Lane Mills is situated on the local cycle network and is accessible from the canal towpath which leads South towards Lancaster University and Galgate, or North towards Hest Bank and Bolton-le-Sands.

For those travelling via the Millennium Bridge access can be gained using the shared-use path by Greyhound Bridge, crossing the one-way system via the toucan crossings and then riding up Phoenix Street. A marked cycle lane guides riders across St. Leonards car park and into Edward Street which leads onto Moor Lane.

Pool Bikes

In partnership with the Cycling Demonstration Town project, two pool bikes were purchased for use by North Lancs PCT staff. Staff wishing to use the bikes should undergo free cycle training (which can be taken during working hours) and complete the relevant forms available from Jane.Mastin@northlancs.nhs.uk.

The cycle training is useful for both new and experienced cyclists and provides a level of competence which ensures riders are confident and safe. The pool bikes include a folding Dahon cycle which is ideal for those wishing to take the bike on longer journeys by train.

If you wish to use the Dahon Ciao! you can watch the video below which illustrates just how easy it is to fold, whether you want to take it into your meeting or use it on the train.

Cycle to Work Scheme

To promote cycle commuting the Government has introduced tax exemptions for employers to loan cyles and equipment as tax-free benefits.  NHS North Lancashire offers this great scheme to its employees who can benefit from savings of between 30-50% on a bike and accessories.  More information can be found through our Cycle to Work Scheme partner, Cyclescheme.
