The University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust is happy to encourage cycling as a mode of travel to and from hospital sites, and for social use. In recent years, working in partnership with the city council and other major local employers, a range of cycling facilities has been provided for both staff and the general public on the Trust's sites.
As an NHS organisation, which includes a wider responsibility for health promotion, we recognise that cycling can play a big part in providing people with the physical activity they need to lead a healthier lifestyle and reduce the risk of people suffering some serious health conditions such as coronary heart disease, diabetes or obesity.

Events and News
New Cycle Route now open
We've recently opened a new cycle route into and through the RLI which we hope will make the site more accessible for staff who cycle to work. The route links Aldcliffe Road with Ashton Road and benefits from excellent signage, on-road markings, CCTV and improved lighting. The route is open from 7am to 7pm.
Every person that travels to work by bike will recieve a free Dr. Bike maintenance check (outside Centenary Building) and free food voucher (available from General Office) up to value of £2 for Skylight Restaurant. RLI also has a bike available for those wanting to start cycling to work so if you have colleagues who would like to try riding to work with you then please tell them about the free Try-a-Bike service, available from the General Office. Finally we have the Cycling Demonstration Town on hand in the Skylight Restaurant from 8am-2pm to answer all of your cycling queries. For any further information please contact Rysz Detko in the General Office.
If you want to help us spread the word please print the poster (which will open as a pdf) and place on your staff noticeboard.
Why not make this the day to try cycling to work?
A number of secure cycle sheds are available to staff - please click on parking locations to see capacity of sheds.
Visit the General Office for details on how to access these.
